The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) have released a report stating that Fox News’ coverage of climate change is misleading and should not be trusted.

Aaron Huertas, science communications officer for the UCS stated : “Sometimes, it’s like the networks are covering different planets. Unfortunately, too many politicians, interest groups, and pundits continue to dispute established climate science and cable shows sometimes give them a platform to do so.”

The UCS claims that Fox News is wrong about climate change 70% of the time and their coverage of global warming contains misleading statements.

When the UCS compared Fox News to CNN and MSNBC, they found that those media outlets were wrong only 8% of the time.

In other words, the UCS prefers MSNBC’s 92% accuracy rate for covering climate change as they perceive it.

Huertas said: “Debates about responding to climate change can be informative, but debates about whether or not science is real spread unwarranted doubt and confusion. It’s like interviewing someone who claims that smoking cigarettes isn’t bad for your health.”

The UCS implies that cable news should use scientific accuracy and differentiate between political opinions and scientific facts when reporting on climate change.

When it comes to convincing the public, the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication (YPCCC) published a survey that found on 23% of Americans do not believe that the planet’s weather systems are changing.

Meanwhile the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is decrying that humanity is running out of time to deal with or reverse the effects of climate change.

Keeping in line with the carbon dioxide emitted by humans is the sole cause of climate change, media reports are suggesting that the nations of the world come up with a Plan B on global warming.

The University of California at Davis (UCD) released a study warning that “food quality is declining under the rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide that we are experiencing.”
